|Birder’s Paradise in the heart of Zululand.|
Proclaimed a natural heritage site in 1995, Bonamanzi Private Game Reserve was recognized for it’s diverse habitats which provide shelter for threatened species such as the four toed elephant shrew, suni, reed duiker and birds such as the Pink throated twinspot, Rudd's apalis, Neergaards sunbird, and the lemon breasted canary. The outstanding natural features such as its view over False Bay and St Lucia, Mozambique coast and wetland plain also contributed to it’s proclamation.
Ideally situated, bordering Lake St Lucia, a World Heritage Site, and a comfortable ten minute drive from the acclaimed Hluhluwe Imflozi Park, Bonamanzi holds many surprises for travelers. It’s varied accommodation is complimented by diverse terrain that never ceases to surprise one. A game drive on this reserve will include a journey through the magical and mysterious fever tree forest (pictured above), savannah grasslands, dense sand forests, vast swamp lands and the ever changing Hluhluwe river with it’s abundant bird life.
The option of 3 or 4 star self catering or catered accommodation gives one the freedom needed on an African Safari. If choosing the self catering option you always have the option of dining in the superb character restaurant or enjoying their indigenous bush braai(barbecue) evenings, a treat not to be missed.
